As Jacek Studencki, president of Techmex SA said:
"The value of the global GIS market in 2003, according to the Frost&Sullivan Report, was about $5.5 billion, and its projected value in 2010 will be more than $8 billion. The domestic market is estimated by specialists at several billion zlotys over the next three years. The current recovery in the Polish economy, the need to adapt Polish infrastructure to European Union requirements and the growing awareness of the usefulness of GIS systems among Polish managers have been the factors behind the dynamic development of the Polish GIS market over the next several years."

"GIS systems in the Polish administration are still a poorly used and little known tool for supporting the management of geographical resources and infrastructure. This situation is largely due to insufficient knowledge among officials about the use of geographical information in the processes of management of land and its resources (in sectors such as agriculture, construction and ecology) and in investment processes. In Poland, especially local institutions do not yet feel the need to upgrade their work by using the latest GIS solutions. However, this does not mean that the situation will not change for the better over the next several years."
Techmex invested millions of zlotys in the development of the digital collection and processing of geographic images. In September 2004 they launched Central and Eastern Europe’s first satellite management center. Techmex is exclusive representative of SPACE IMAGING Inc in Poland.
